
Austria & Germany: This brings the new railway schedule
A new rail schedule is valid across Europe on December 15. We looked at what changes it brings.
New direct connections, faster travel times and updated prices: In Germany and Austria, there are some changes to you with the change of timetable. We have compiled the most important information.
AUSTRIA
New connections:
- Vienna: Night S-Bahn S80 between Hütteldorf and Aspern Nord (enables surrounding in Meidling or Badner Bahn)
- New Westbahn direct connections Vienna-Bregenz-Lindau on Lake Constance (2 connections per day, shorter driving time)
- Also new Westbahn connection Vienna-Stuttgart (travel time 6.5 hours, over Munich, twice a day)
Price changes:
- More free reservable places in the Westbahn
More connections:
- Additional connections of the Rex92 between Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria) and Hartberg (Styria)
- Half -hourly cycle Innsbruck - Ötztal
- Line S8 between Hochfilzen and Zell am See every hour
DEUTSCHLAND:
New connections:
- daily direct connection Berlin - Paris (8 hours)
- Direct connection to Amsterdam from Stuttgart and Munich
- New late connection Frankfurt - Brussels from mid -April to early November
Price changes:
- Flex price tickets on average by almost 6 % more expensive
- BahnCard100 by 6.6 % more expensive for € 4,899
More connections:
- More trains between Munich & Zurich
- More trains between Berlin - Breslau - Krakow
- In summer more direct trains between Munich - Bologna - Venice
- Six additional sprinters on the Berlin - Frankfurt am Main route (connection in four hours)
- Additional direct train Berlin - Saarbrücken
- Also additional direct train from mid -March on the Rostock - Leipzig - Frankfurt - Stuttgart route
- Second daily direct train Bremen - Berlin
Innovations in Bordbistros
- No more tapped beer in Bordbistros
- Larger selection of bottle beer
- Between February and May the pilot project for exclusively cashless numbers in some trains
